Same-Day Deliveries

If you’ve found yourself here wondering what a sameday courier service is and how it differs to the services offered by the larger companies like Yodel, DPD, DX, Parcelforce, Evri (you get the idea) but don’t really know how to go about asking the question then fear not, we are here to divulge all.

To keep it simple. A sameday courier service will pick up your consignment and drop it off on the same day. Or the day after. Whenever you have requested pickup and drop off really.

Think of it this way, you are hiring a whole van with a driver. It doesn’t matter whether your consignment fills the van or whether it’s the size of a crisps packet. The whole van is yours. The drivers responsibility is to ensure your consignment’s delivered on time, to the correct location and in the same condition as it was picked up in. You just need to provide details such as the collection address, contact name and number along with a description of the goods that are due to be collected. Oh, and just as important you need to provide the delivery address, delivery contact name along with number.

That’s it!

  • You don’t need to pack your consignment (although it really helps if you do or if it is particularly fragile).
  • You don’t need to worry about your item being lost, damaged in transit or delivered to the wrong address.
  • You don’t need to constantly check up on the courier to see where he or she is either!

If you do need to check. You won’t need to go through a laborious tracking system that doesn’t correlate with real time events. You can just call the controllers who will fill you in with your query. This also applies to redirections and cancellations as well. IF for whatever reason the consignment has not been delivered, it can be re-arranged or returned immediately.

There are certain things you should expect when using a sameday courier service. This applies to all firms not just Frigate Express.

  • The vehicle carrying your consignment should be dedicated. This means that there should be no other consignments on board belonging to other customers unless agreed before booking the job
  • You will find that most couriers in the sameday delivery sphere will be equipped with load straps and courier blankets. This is to protect your consignment
  • Most sameday courier services prioritise speed and urgency. Your consignment will be picked up and delivered on the same day, typically within a few hours, depending on the distance and location.
  • Most sameday courier services understand your individual needs so therefore offer a higher level of service which as a byproduct includes doses of accountability
  • Most importantly, your consignment is significantly more secure when in the possession of a dedicated courier.

So, what’s the catch? What’s the main difference between a courier making sameday deliveries and one working for a larger outfit?

When we first set up and told family, friends, business associates about the venture into the sameday courier world we were often asked how much it would cost to send a parcel to ‘x’ and then be told “well, Royal Mail can do it next day for a tenner”. This is true and nothing that we are afraid to admit and acknowledge.

Sameday couriers in essence collect from point A and deliver to point B direct. There will be no sorting centre, no piled into the back of a van with another hundred deliveries going in the same direction and the consignment won’t be ‘handled’ by multiple hands

Now at the time of writing as far as we are aware the larger companies don’t generally engage in the s courier service or if they do it would be a one off not a dedicated team. Sameday courier companies like us specialise in sameday deliveries. It is our bread and butter not an add-on. As a result, you get an overall personalised and better service.

So, who typically uses the sameday courier service? Well, this is a difficult one to answer because there isn’t a typical customer. It could be anyone. From someone who has bought something off eBay to an aircraft manufacturer requiring urgent parts due to a breakdown and everything in between. If it something that you cannot send in the traditional post and parcel network, then it’s folk like us you need to call 😉.

So, what are you waiting for?

Let’s talk.
