He also had a friend on this toxic social media platform called Facebook. This friend was a courier. He used to post (alot!) about the places he would visit and what he saw along the way.
This got the founder of the company thinking:
“This guy is earning a living by doing what he likes “Why am I doing a job that I hate!”
One day he saw an advert by a large national delivery company. He responded thinking nothing of a possible response. Next, to his surprise he was invited for an interview. Sadly, he was not impressed. He refused to collaborate with such people. We cannot divulge which firm it was, however, the words ‘slavery’ and ‘financial exploitation’ come to mind. Sadly, words aren’t alien in this profession. He was disappointed to say the least. Moreover, the interviewer arrived 15 minutes late to the interview and did not apologise. This was inexcusable and totally unprofessional.
A plan was made. We educated ourselves, brought together our collective knowledge, and contacted various experts in their respective fields to fill the gaps in our knowledge.
Frigate Express was now born 😊
But hang on, why Frigate Express?
Remember that cup of tea and biscuits we mentioned at the start. Well, get dunking.
So, courier firms are often named after birds due to several reasons.
Birds are often associated with qualities like speed, agility and efficiency in movement. This aligns well with the core values of courier services like us who aim to be one of the best courier services both locally and nationally. Furthermore, birds are symbolic of communication, freedom, and travel in many cultures. Using bird names for courier firms may evoke these associations, signalling the company's commitment to facilitating communication and movement of goods.
The Frigate bird was up there with some of the fastest, so we took the name. It’s actually worked out rather well for us because just like the bird itself we have a reputation for being rather swift in our operation and frankly, we deliver 😊
Moving on we operate based on two principles. The KISS principle (keep it simple, stupid) and the Japanese proverb "Kaizen" (改善). It’s a concept that originated in the Japanese business world and promotes a culture of continuous improvement by making small, incremental improvements over time to achieve overall greatness whilst remaining humble. Toyota is an excellent example of this.
We believe that by keeping things simple and taking constant small steps to improve we can be one of the best courier services out there both locally and nationally.
Fortunately we are based in Britains unofficial second city, Birmingham. Yes, we are aware that Manchester is enviously vying for this spot, but it hasn’t got it (yet). We cover the entire country both mainland and the smaller Isles upon request. We are not going to lie and tell you we have thousands of couriers on standby waiting for your consignment. Although we do have access to the same network of vetted couriers around the country as most of the larger courier outfits use, only our selection process is based on a different set of metrics.
Get in touch and see how we can help you😊
