First day back at work and what a lovely day for it too. I found myself in the Cotswolds. Yeah, that place with many house names.
The scenery, as ever, was stunning. I find the drystone walling in the Cotswolds pretty interesting. It looks pleasing on the eye, lifts up the area, and brightens the landscape. The way the individual stones lock together without mortar is clever. And, let’s be honest, Cotswold walling isn’t cheap given the craftsmanship that goes into it.
Anyway, I shan’t bore you with my fascination for cream-colored stone walls.
So, what did the first day have in store for me? Well, not much, really. Just a house name.
Okay, the postcode was shared, so finding the area was a breeze, but finding the actual place was a bit… interesting. No contact number for the guy either, which didn’t help—especially when I was delivering expensive servers to a location with zero clear directions. But that’s logistics for you. Expect the unexpected. (Other overused and outdated cheesy lines are available.)
After dealing with the confusion of house names and shared postcodes, I decided to take a quick break. I popped into BMW Motorrad in Northampton, and what a treat it turned out to be. Sitting in the corner of the showroom were some classic motorbikes that really caught my eye.
👉 Suzuki AP50 – A motorbike with pedals. Seriously. It’s a quirky little piece of history, and I couldn’t help but admire it. No, I didn’t have a go, and NO, I didn’t ask either.
👉 Yamaha RD250 – A real classic, loved by bikers back in the day. If you know, you know.
👉 Kawasaki Ninja (first gen, I believe) – A legendary bike that really shaped the sport in its time.
But the real surprise came when I spotted the BMW CE 04 electric scooter.
The BMW CE 04 – What Is It?
An electric scooter. I wasn’t expecting to see an electric scooter amongst all those classics, but the BMW CE 04 definitely stood out. It’s got a sleek, futuristic design and some solid tech, but it’s £14K!
For some reason, I can’t imagine a load of Deliveroo riders taking a great deal of interest.
£14,000 for a scooter! This isn’t just any scooter. It’s a premium product from BMW, probably aimed at people with a disposable income many times my annual salary.
It made me wonder if the BMW CE 04 is BMW’s version of the Aston Martin Cygnet. Why not? While it’s undoubtedly stylish and cool, I’m not sure it justifies the hefty price tag. But then again, I’m not the targeted audience, so my opinion here is irrelevant.
Seriously 😐
One thing I love about showrooms is they’re perfect for a pit stop. Whether it’s BMW Motorrad or another brand. They usually offer free coffee, clean facilities, and friendly staff who are more than happy to have a chat.
But there’s a catch: it’s way too easy to get carried away and accidentally put a deposit down on a new bike. Trust me, it happens more often than you think, especially when you’re surrounded by bikes you wouldn’t mind taking home! So, if you’re just browsing, be careful—you might find yourself falling in love with something you don’t need. 😁
