Someone booking a courier on behalf of an important client but not furnishing you with anything other than a phone number that doesn\u2019t work and an address that\u2019s missing vital info. Like which building on the street. Which unit in the estate. The basics. You end up playing detective, ringing every number you can find, looking like an idiot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then there are engineers who are waiting for an urgent delivery but leave their phone in the van so they can\u2019t be contacted. Even more annoying when the consignment must be delivered to the named contact. Who happens to be that exact engineer who has called upon their introvert energy, switched the thing to silent, and is now uncontactable in a five-mile radius. You\u2019re left holding the box, the clock\u2019s ticking, and their tea\u2019s going cold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, all is not doom. Not every stop is a headache.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I was close to \u2018The Superbike Factory\u2019 next to Donington Park today, so I stopped for a wee break. And it\u2019s a little haven. Clean toilet facilities (always noted and appreciated) and a cafe that does decent warm food and coffee. It\u2019s predominantly for bikers, but all are welcome. I think. They didn\u2019t kick me out for arriving on four wheels, anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The main thing here, obviously, is the range of motorbikes they have for sale. Every type of bike from a scooter to cruisers and most in between are offered. The stock is always changing as folk part-exchange their old bikes for their new toys. Walls of gleaming metal. They also sell a selection of clothing, helmets and boots too. It\u2019s a proper Aladdin\u2019s cave for anyone who likes two wheels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I\u2019ve been eying up the Gixxer6 for a while now. Just looking. But as it stands, with this cold, I\u2019m definitely in my feminine energy until spring. My warm, heated seat, enclosed cabin, hot coffee holder feminine energy. The bike can wait. For now, it\u2019s just a nice place to stop, use a clean loo, have a decent brew and look at the shiny things while the world outside sorts its phone signal out. By the way the van doesn’t have heated seats. Why not? Why aren’t vans fitted with heated seats and a sunroof?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
