I went to school

It was an academy. I’ve little knowledge on how school are run today but I tell you what they are significantly different to how they were when I went to school.

For context the schools that I went to weren’t some majestic buildings straight from the realms of Harry Potter. Nor were they places where you expand your horizons, learn something useful and build a better version of yourself.

Rather, they were places where the ferals would unite and spread misery to anyone who wasn’t part of their sh!tty clan.

Most of secondary school was spent being wary of the kids from the year above as there were rumours circulating that they flush the head of youngsters down the loo.

The schools I went to were a little less morbid than concentration camps. Just a little. Large concrete and glass structures in the most depressing colours you can think of. Single glazed metal frame windows. That sort of thing.

This place was different.

For starters you’ve got to get past security to get in. Think ‘fancy office’ security rather than ‘prison officer’ security.

Then there’s an open car park where the students walk through to get to a large glass fronted building that would make proud headquarters of any medium sized business. Can you believe it they trust the kids to walk past the cars 😳

As you walk into a typical fancy office style open reception your met by ‘the receptionist’. She looked as stunning as the building. Her nail polish colour matching perfectly with her lanyard and id badge, the ends of her hair curled to perfection. Much better than my own curls and you can tell she’s got a good set of #GHDs. Think of Liz Hurley from the film “Bedazzled”. The bit where all the kids get her an apple 🍏. Yep, just like that.

Now behind her was a large (floor to ceiling) window looking into the #gym. Which, I should mention had machines and facilities some professional gyms would get jelly over. Very impressive. There were kids giving it all on the treadmill, another doing squats whilst his mate was curling those biceps. I guess this was a PE lesson as the ‘teacher’ dressed like a football referee and was motivating his class to push harder etc.

Next a couple of teachers walk past me. They look soooo approachable. Well groomed, happy, smiling. They didn’t look like they are ready to die and didn’t have chalk over their blazers either. In fact, they didn’t even wear blazers! Yet still managed to look smart and definitely the part.

Next I see a bunch of kids walking towards me. And they genuinely looked happy! Like they actually like being there. Such an alien concept to me.

Jesting aside the whole ‘vibe’ about the place was incredible. It actually ‘felt’ like a place where you learn, inspire and challenge yourself in the right environment. I really do hope this is getting to be the norm in the world of schools but I won’t hold my breath.

What has this got to do with logistics? Well, I delivered some custom printed posters there. So there 😁

So, do you need a courier who upon delivering to a school goes into a waffle about how awesome the new concept of schools. Of course you do 🤓
