Right. So much fun in Brighton. Is it wrong to have this much fun on a workday? Especially a Monday? Probably. But I’m not complaining.
Logistics is still a wee bit quiet, the phone’s not exactly buzzing, but I’ve just about scraped the daily target. The last job of the day finished with me in Brighton late in the evening. Not late enough for the place to go to sleep, though. Nowhere near. The place was just getting started.
An amazing meal in a backstreet place that did halloumi fries better than anyone has a right to, and a five-mile walk along the front later, I can’t help but love this place. It gets under your skin.
It’s clean. Actually clean. Not just tidy, but cared for. The people are incredibly friendly and aren’t shy in the way they just be themselves. Nobody’s putting on an act. This place is safe and accepting of everyone, no matter your gender or sexual orientation. You feel it in the air. I love this place. As someone used to being called ‘weird’ by people who desperately want to ‘fit in’, Brighton is a breath of fresh air. Of course, the fact that it’s on the south coast may have something to do with that breath of fresh air, too. Sea air and acceptance. Good combination.
I was tempted to stay the night. Just sack off the drive back, find a B&B, and wake up to the sound of seagulls. But I couldn’t find a cheap enough hotel at such short notice. The van became my hotel, pointing north towards home.
Ironically, the first job the very next day took me right back there. The universe has a sense of humour. In the daytime is where you can really mooch. You can go shopping in the ‘Lanes’, all those twisty little alleys full of odd shops. Or go for a spa on the beach, maybe a swim in the sea side swimming pool. Or take part in anything else that takes your fancy. It’s all there. It feels like a reward for getting through a quiet Monday.
Ps – it’s always a wee bit warmer here too. Or has been when I go. A little microclimate of better weather and better vibes. They can keep their drizzle up north. I’ve found my Monday spot.

So, do you need a courier who loves mooching by the south sea?
