I’ve collaborated with someone who happens to be an expert on the subject and she’s helped with some cracking articles and advice for helping drivers with their mental health.
I shall publish soon but definitely NOT this week for three reasons.
1. I’m building a shed and that’s more important. It’s a cracking shed though! 😎
2. Not quite finished writing it yet 🤓
3. I refuse to jump on the corporate bandwagon and give the white collar world traction in a campaign that I feel is extremely conditional and marinated with a lot of bullsh*t! 😠
Whilst it’s nice to read and hear stories and see pictures of joint team efforts all smiles and thumbs up I can’t help but feel that these campaigned are ring fenced to who they apply to and are limited to the period in which they are celebrated.
Once over. Back to work. Back to normality. Back to treating one another like shite not forgetting, treating those you consider lower than you with utter contempt.
Earlier this week there was a wee incident which really hit home how ironic such campaigns are.
A collection from a very large company. It’s a global outfit too so it really should practice what it preaches.
I ask to use the bathroom. I’m told I can’t.
“The toilets are for engineers only. Sorry it’s company policy.”
The same company has posted stuff about mental health week on LinkedIn.
Ironic eh. Drivers were heroes during Covid, claps all round and now they’re scum again. I don’t need to go into the nitty gritty everyone else has posted about it before.
I have an idea which may or may not work. How about the white collar world swap facilities and treatment with the drivers for a week.
Wait between 30-90 days before you get your wages.
Oh and a third might just be missing because someone somewhere is p!ss poor at their job so you will now suffer as a result.
Oh, fill in a form for the difference and someone will try their very best to justify why the company should underpay you!
Swap your bathroom facilities with the drivers.
Extend that to dining facilities too.
Doesn’t sound too appealing does it? Thought not 😂😂😂🤭 now fix up 👍🏾
But on a lighter note.
Three things what will drastically improve mental health in the workplace.
1. Stop backbiting. Seriously stop it. It’s an attribute of a sh!t person 💩 Discuss ideas not people.
2. Leave the ego at the door 🤨Or just drop it entirely.
3. Treat others how you’d like to be treated 😇 Cheap words I know but actually act on them.
Make an effort to implement the three above on a daily basis. It’ll require a serious degree of self reflection and self honesty but when practiced enough it’ll become second nature.
So, do you need a courier whose life is obsessed with a shed right now?
